AI for Maritime Professionals
Harness the Power of Artificial Intelligence for Productivity, Learning and Safer Operations. The maritime industry is evolving fast, and those who understand how to work with AI will lead the next wave of innovation.
Description
Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools such as ChatGPT and Gemini are already transforming how maritime professionals plan, report, train, and make decisions. However, these tools are not foolproof – they can confidently provide incorrect or misleading information if they are not used correctly.
This course is designed to help maritime professionals use AI effectively, responsibly, and with confidence.
Whether you are shore-based or seagoing, involved in training, management, operations, or administration, AI can significantly improve your efficiency – but only if you know how to ask the right questions and use the right tools. This 4-hour online course provides a practical, structured overview of today’s most useful AI applications and shows you how to apply them to real-world maritime tasks.
Participants will also be introduced to powerful tools such as NotebookLM and Nano Banana, applications many professionals are unaware of, but quickly come to rely on once they start using them. These tools can transform lengthy documents into summaries, mind maps, infographics, podcasts, and more, acting as a highly efficient digital assistant.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Understand basic AI and LLM terminology, without unnecessary technical jargon
- Improve prompts to obtain better, more accurate results from Large Language Models such as ChatGPT and Gemini
- Paraphrase and refine written content effectively using AI
- Work more efficiently when planning, reporting, training, and supporting decision-making
- Discover and apply additional AI tools such as NotebookLM and Nano Banana to everyday professional tasks
The course is delivered online over 4 hours and focuses on practical use cases, not theory.
